From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A tank is a tracked, armoured fighting vehicle designed for front-line combat which combines operational mobility and tactical offensive and defensive capabilities. Firepower is normally provided by a large-calibre main gun in a rotating turret and secondary machine guns, while heavy armour and all-terrain mobility provide protection for the tank and its crew, allowing it to perform all primary tasks of the armoured troops on the battlefield. Tanks were first introduced by the British during World War I as a means to break the deadlock of trench warfare. They were first deployed at the Battle of Somme in limited numbers. During construction, to conceal their true identity as weapons, they were designated as water carriers for the Mesopotamian campaign and referred to as "tanks" (as in "water tank"). Interwar developments in both design and tactics evolved during World War II, producing important concepts of armoured warfare which persist to this day and were prominently displayed during World War II. The Soviet Union introduced the T-34, one of the best tanks in service throughout the war and one of the forerunners to the main battle tank. Germany introduced blitzkrieg, a strategy which makes use of massed concentrations of tanks supported by artillery and air power to break through the enemy front to surround enemy forces and accomplish objectives. Today, tanks seldom operate alone, as they are organized into armoured units which involve the support of infantry, who may accompany the tanks in armoured personnel carriers or infantry fighting vehicles. They are also usually accompanied by reconnaissance or ground-attack aircraft. Due to its formidable capabilities and versatility the battle tank is generally considered a key component of modern armies. However, the prevalence of unconventional and asymmetric warfare have put into question the utility of the armoured force. Ongoing research and development attempts to equip the tank to meet the challenges of the 21st century. From Wikipedia under the

I'd say about 70 km/h 40 miles on the road, and probably 25 miles per hour in the terrain, depends on the surface. Challenger as an example of western armor design has the max speed 59km/h on the road, 40 km/h in the rough terrain, 450km road range. russian T72 has the range of 900 kilometers with external fuel tanks attached. the speed… [cont.] Answered by mindworms - Mon Oct 22 02:18:33 2007 I want to start my own fish tank, where do I start? Q. I want to start my own fish tank, but I don't know where to start. What do I need? I'm planning to get a 20 gallon tank. Should I start with a freshwater tank or a saltwater tank? What kind of fish should I get? Where is the best place to get this stuff? How much will it cost me? I need a lot of help. thank you. Asked by dk - Wed Jan 31 21:50:11 2007 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. you can get a 20 gallon at walmart with hood, light, decent filter, heater -- i think its about 75 dollars. you need something to put it on -- thats a minimum of 30 bucks. a twenty gallon tank weighs about 180 lbs so you can't just put it on a cheap bookcase. then comes gravel, plants, water conditioners, meds, the list goes on. i get whatever i can at walmart. i don't buy fish at walmart. i have a few goldfish and am mostly a betta addict. i find them to be more personable. most people set up some kind of community tank -- you can do brackish with mollies, platies, swordfish you can do cichlids -- either african or south american you can do peaceful tropical with things like schools of fish, angelfish, gouramies. rasboras,… [cont.] Answered by G - Wed Jan 31 23:03:41 2007 What size a tank should I get for cichlids?
Q. I've wanted cichlids for the past year or so, but I have no clue what size tank I should get. NOTE: I don't want to spend over 500 dollars on the tank setup(not including fish) I think african cichlids are the ones I prefer, and I don't want them over 7 inches long.
