Should be a stat called "energy factor" on your existing tank, which is probably around 0.5-0.6. If you can find out from your rental company the EF's from other tanks they rent, have them install whichever has the highest number. This will maximize your savings. A condensing unit with small tank and good insulation will be best if available. Also, make sure they put "S" bends, aka "heat traps" in the hot/cold water lines leaving the top of the unit, and it would also be wise to insulate these for several feet. Without knowing your usage habits, it would indeed be difficult to put an exact dollar amount on your savings... I mean if you know what everyones thinking then its no fun.
