Q. I'm writing a report for Art History, and I need to know what building materials were used for a certain piece of architecture. I chose the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I can't find much information on what materials were used to build the facade. If you know what material was used to build it, could you please give a source or a link? Thanks!

A. Hi! I can understand the problem you are having finding information on this because there are numerous "Metropolitan Museum of Art" located around the country, just adding their city's name. The one in New York, commonly called "The Met," negotiated and acquired land on the east side of Central Park, where it built its permanent home in 1880, a red-brick Gothic Revival stone "mausoleum" designed by American architects Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould. The Met has remained in this location ever since, and the original structure is still part of its current building. How was the Lisa Marie airplane transported to the Graceland museum?
Q. How was the Lisa Marie airplane transported to the Graceland museum? Did they close down the highway to get it from wherever it was to the place it is now? Did there used to be a landing strip across the street from his mansion or something? How did they get the plane to where it is right now?

A. It was taxied via the highway. This is not an unusual way for a plane to reach a museum - some airframes selected for preservation have too many hours logged to fly, or they're too invaluable to risk getting crashed. This is doubly true for the Lisa Marie since it is special not only as an example of an already rare Convair 880, but in itself. Pics of the aircraft on the highway can be found on the Net.

How much would a taxi be roughly from the London dungeons to the Natural history museum?
Q. We are going to London on Saturday, there are 3 adults and 2 children. We will be going from the Dungeons to the history museum and back again as we will be parked near the dungeons. Does any one know how much this will cost roughly in a taxi or tube for all of us? Thanks

A. A black cab will cost a fortune, especially if it gets stuck in traffic. A zone 1 and 2 travel card is 5.60, children under 11 travel free on the underground and buses, and over 11s can get a travel card for 1. Get the Northern line towards Morden at London Bridge underground. Change at Elephant and Castle towards Queens Park on the Bakerloo line, then change at Piccadilly Circus for the Piccadilly line towards Uxbridge or Heathrow. Get off at South Kensington and it will be a few minutes walk through the foot tunnel. This journey will take about three quarters of an hour. You will be able to use your travel card on the buses, underground and DLR if you find yourself with time to explore. Enjoy your visit, the museum is great.
