What do my husband and I need to do now to prepare to buy a house?
Q. My husband and I want to prepare to apply for a home loan within the next 5 years. Currently we rent, my husband lived there 3 years before we got married and we have lived there married for 2 years. We've never been late on rent or bills. We don't like debt and thus don't carry any. Any large ticket items (i.e. laptop computer $2,500 and mattress $3,500) we pay in cash. I only have three department store credit cards (Banana Republic, Ann Taylor & VS) as far as credit goes. I pay any balance (I don't use them much) when due or before due date. The only financing my husband and I have done is paid off a 2002 truck in 2005 (after selling). What should we do in order to build up credit (or whatever is needed) in order to get a home… [cont.]

A. Congratulations. It sounds like you have taken the necessary steps to position yourselves well for a home purchase. Your limited credit use is fine. You may want to go to annualcreditreport.com and pull your credit for free so that you may check for any inaccuracies and to find out what your credit scores are at present. This site does not require you sign up for anything to get a copy of your report unlike many of them do. Basic requirements for financing are as follows: 2 years in the same profession (salaried) or working in your filed of study if recently graduated. Q. My husband has a home loan guarantee through the military but what good is it if we cant get financed?

A. None, you need to have 2 years of seasoning on a bankruptcy before lenders will consider lending to you.

How come some woman can tolerate a husband who is a cross dressing freak?
Q. I have a friend who let her husband dress in drag and it just makes me feel weird that she let her husband do that. I had to divorce my husband about 7 years ago because it disgusted me. He now works at a drag circuit club and my daughter constantly asks how come she doesn't have a dad. My daughter is 10 years old.
