Egypt (pronounced /ˈiːdʒɪpt/ ( listen); Arabic: مصر‎ Miṣr, pronounced [misˤɾ] ( listen); Arabic: مِصْر Miṣr [ˈmisˤɾ]; Egyptian Arabic: مَصْر Maṣr [ˈmɑsˤɾ]; Coptic: Ⲭⲏⲙⲓ, kīmi; Egyptian: 𓆎𓅓𓏏𓊖 Kemet), officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a country mainly in North Africa, with the Sinai Peninsula forming a land bridge in Southwest Asia. Thereby, Egypt is a transcontinental country, and is considered to be a major power in North Africa, Mediterranean Region, African continent, Nile Basin, Islamic World and the Red Sea. Covering an area of about 1,010,000 square kilometers (390,000 sq mi), Egypt is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.

Egypt is one of the most populous countries in Africa and the Middle East. The great majority of its estimated 79 million people live near the banks of the Nile River, in an area of about 40,000 square kilometers (15,000 sq mi), where the only arable agricultural land is found. The large areas of the Sahara Desert are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt's residents live in urban areas, with most spread across the densely populated centres of greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta.

Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Giza pyramid complex and its Great Sphinx. Its ancient ruins, such as those of Memphis, Thebes, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings, are a significant focus of archaeological study, and artefacts from these sites are now displayed in major museums around the world. Egypt is widely regarded as an important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.

Egypt possesses one of the most developed and diversified economies in the Middle East, with sectors such as tourism, agriculture, industry and service at almost equal rates in national production. Consequently, the Egyptian economy is rapidly developing, due in part to legislation aimed at luring investments, coupled with both internal and political stability, along with recent trade and market liberalization.

How did Egypt pay for the arms she got from the Soviet Union?
Q. So, Egypt was totally and completely armed by Russians. Egypt had no her own, Egyptian-made tanks, planes, trucks, rifles, cannons and mortars. Egypt did not even have cartridges for the Kalashnikov machine- guns. All, until the last bullet, was provided to Egypt by the USSR. But it cost billions and billions of dollars. How did Egypt pay for them? Or she did not?

A. "Mainly by its cotton, and fresh vegetable,,, and also some pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products" Our short-brained friend Zoser II either has very serious problems with math , or takes us for fools who can not sum 2 and 2 . A ton of the Egyptian long-staples GIZA cotton cost in the 60s about 2000 US dollars Egyptian annual output of the long-staples cotton in e 60s was about 3000 tons. Of course, Egypt did not sell ALL of its cotton abroad, and of course, the USSR was not the only client Egypt had. But let s suppose that Egypt sold all the 3000 tons of its cotton to the USSR. 3000 tons x 2000 dollars/ton =600,000,000 dollars. 600 million dollars, this is all Egypt could get for all its cotton. One Soviet tank T-55, even by the very… [cont.]

Egypt is protesting officially to Fifa for the penalty given to Brazil during the game. Opinions?
Q. Egypt is protesting as the penalty was only conceded when the fourth man allegedly saw the replay on a screen, which is technically prohibited by Fifa rules. The ref took three minutes to assign a penalty which he had NOT noticed. Do you think this is correct? Personally I think if with such speed the fourth man can ensure such a crucial decision is taken right then it should be allowed. Oh sorry J. Idk Darkie.

A. to make the game in general be fair replays should be used, but since they are not allowed and the ref didn't see anything the game should have continued.
